DEAR ABBY Part 2: More wall solutions for Marissa at J'adore Decor

To follow up on the last post, I found the pics from the Blueprint article re: blowing-up-your-pictures-and-ephemera idea that I posted on Marissa's J'Adore Decor blog... here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Do we like this idea?

I found the pics here, but the Martha Stewart link is broken. If anyone has the text and printing resource info handy, please let me know and I will post the link.

I love the blown-up envelope idea. I may need to fish a pretty wedding invitation I just tossed out of the trash for this purpose.

I have seen this sort of things in bars and cafes - need I continue?

Do you mean you don't like it? I am sorry if I am being a dolt.:)

If you hate it, tell us why! We love your style, so if we're setting her on the wrong path, do tell. You can help us all avoid decor disasters.

Not to be unkind, BUT, I think it is hideously tacky.
Part of the charm of photographs is their casual placement and scale.

Just look at those two in the picture with the dachshund - who on earth would want to be like them?

Really, HOBAC? I think you have pretty refined taste and that is why we all LOVE you & your sharp commentary. But don't you think in a really casual living room (like in my mythological beachy-second home.... that I *will* have someday...) it would be campy and fun and charming? It would be tacky if people took it seriously, but if something like this were in a fresh and fun room, I think it would be ok. Or maybe I am just wrong, wrong, wrong.

Also, I have to say, I know you don't like these two people (maybe it's their super-fake model-happiness, which is cloying) but the guy is totally my kind of guy. Sort of vaguely arab or jewish and dark-haired and handsome and cute. I would let him sit under my daschund photo any time.

I am sure that anyone who visits your blog would handle the over scaled images in a fun and interesting manner - after all J 'Adore Decor is a stylist!
I just think the concept needs to be taken further i.e. crop/manipulae the image - make it really original, witty, and worthy of being in one's home.

I really like the playing cards! I kind of like the dachshund photo. But I can see an argument for manipulating the image and making it really original.

These are really great ideas I have put many things on my walls from traditional pictures to hanging good quality oriental rugs, the desins have to right and they do look really good but some of these ideas are inspirational.
