This is the look of 2008?

Hmm. Okaaaaaaaaay.

If this is the case, wake me up when it's 2009.

Normally I l.o.v.e Canadian House and Home, but could they have chosen a more uninspired photo to depict their vision for the "look" of the year to come?

Snoozers and yawns all around.

And what's up with the tragic little chair in the corner underneath... what is that? Art? A photo? That chair is so abandoned-by-the-curb, and not in an exciting "I'm-gonna-rescue-it-and-recover-it-in-hot-pink-ultrasuede, bitches" kind of way.

I should note parts of that particular house featured on the cover are quite snazzy... maybe their art director and photo editor just need a good spanking.

At any rate, good try Canada. We know you can't always get it right. I mean, you're just our hat after all. :)

Which leads me to the real question.... who here can spot the next trend? What's next? After I am done using my blog as a wrecking ball to destroy the cult of Kelly Wearstler's whole "look" what good (or bad) trends are on the horizon?

Let's start placing bets...

Funny, my eyes zoned right in on that chair. The rest is not cover worthy.

The next look will be:

"Gary, Indiana Regency"

PVE - at least we both agree there is something lackluster about the room. :)

Anon - all my comments from "Anon" are always so fucking funny that I tend to think you're one person, not a collection of Anons who all just happen to be hysterical. Anyway, you kind of make my day.

I would love for Gary, Indiana Regency" to be the next big thing. I might need to do a post of all the items that might furnish such a home.

I am one person, fortunately. And you REALLY make my day. Thanks babe.

By the way, who is Mr. "America's Hat"? grrrrrrrrrr....

Hmm... not sure who Captain America's Hat is, but you can find him here:

Wouldn't it be satisfying if, instead of it being Britney having the meltdown, it had been Kelly W, being taken away in a (Hollywood Regency) ambulance? Her little capri-clad legs kicking agitatedly?

Now THAT would be the end of a design era.

ZZZZzzzzzzz......Huh, Wha?

Anyway, on to the next trend: Mauve and Teal Howling Coyotes, or maybe I'm still a little ahead of myself here.

Oh, I hate that you did this post. This issue has a large feature on the new year - and the highly talented Patricia Gray is quoted in the article. I hate that people will see this and be put off from buying the magazine - missing seeing one of our own in print. oh well....I think there's a great house featured in this issue, worth the price.

WTF?!

CDT / Joni - I *loooove* Patricia Gray. My only point in posting is this - are the photo editors and art directors at this magazine asleep at the wheel? What kind of cover photo is that? And you're right - - it will be a shame if people are put off by the cover because the content of this magazine is really quite consitently great.

As the kids say - don't hate the player. Hate the game. :)

Thanks Decorno - for saying that. I was so happy for Patricia and then to see this I just felt bad that readers would miss her in it. That's all! It is a pretty boring cover, btw. Usually they have wonderful covers.

Decorno, it's your blog and you can make any observations on any magazine you deem 'unworthy'. Obviously your blog fans love that you do and the readers will look at the magazine anyway just to see what you pointed out...which btw you mentioned that other parts of that 'cover' home were worth looking at and you've mentioned previously that you love that mag...don't let unhappy comments like that make you justify your blog entries...yo. I adore your entries, it's why I read your blog.

Agree. Decorno leaves all the other design blogs in the dust.

Hmmm...must we be the trucker hat of accessories? Oh well ;)

Love Patricia Gray and I totally agree with Decorno about the cover photo. Really blah. Your comments are always so funny!

If Canada is the US's hat (or toque), then what does that make Mexico?

decorno.blogspot.com said...

I think that makes Mexico our strong & handsome jawline.

I was a fan of Patricia Gray until she posted someone else's writing on her blog and tried to pass it off as her own. SO not cool and speaks to a lack of talent in my opinion.
