I thought these were the ones.

I had been thinking of white Thonets, and then found this photo of that very idea and thought YES!!!

And then my fiance said NO.

Bummer. So my dining room chair dilemma (see HERE) goes unresolved still.

And that is SFGirlbyBay's house. I'm sure she would appreciate the courtesy of a link.

God, I'm getting old. I took one look at that room and sighed, "Jeezus, that is SOOO Domino."

Um, first Anon, I also thought she would like the courtesy of a link, which is why I had ALREADY linked to her... re-read the post and try clicking around.

I deserve the courtesy of benefit of the doubt.

Anon 2, thanks for backing me up.

I didn't know those chairs had a name, besides "rickety things that would be crushed by a big butt".
My mom bought some for the kitchen table when I was a kid and no man ever wanted to sit in them. So really, you're better off. :) (No offense to Victoria; hers do look pretty sturdy)

"no man ever wanted to sit in them"

Okay, I'm a man (technically, anyway), and I don't see anything in those chairs that looks threatening to my virile parts. Or are you just talking about mass-vs.-flimsy-infrastructure here?

Dec: These do look like they'd be torture at a long dinner party.

I wonder why your fiancee said no. Did he not like the look, the way they sit, the price? Were you looking at antique Thonet's, or modern ones(the factory still makes 'em)?

Not price so much (he knows enough not to ask anymore). I think he doesn't like the look and, judging from that, assumes they will be uncomfortable (which I am sure they will).

The search continues.

Try clicking on words like "this" or "here."

I also generally put them in all caps to make it super clear to people, but that always seems like I am yelling at people. (Even though at times that exactly what I want to do.)

Anon #1 - why so grumpy?
