Oh to be young...

Urban Outfitters. Seriously. I never go there... except to buy skinny jeans for my niece. But look at this business - - cute stuff for CHEAP. I had really forgotten about UO until I was, in fact, there to exchange jeans for my niece and I picked up a super cute plate and noticed it was SIX DOLLARS. Sweet Jesus.

u need to look at the white ceramic owl umbrella holder that Holly over at Decor8 bought on Ebay today. It's a perfect match to the owl lamp. You two must be sympatico!

UO is cheap. Agree with you on that. Cheap in every sense of the word.

Well, UO is the baby sister store to Anthropologie, so the same ideas, different target and price points. (Gawd, do I sound like a retailer?) AND did you know that Anthropologie's next retail adventure is a Garden center / experience store???? Concept store to open in the Boston area , I think. There is a blog out there called Craving Anthropologie, where I pick up these nuggets.....

that's some pretty freakin good stuff...especially love the pink pillow and that owl lamp. I got the branch jewlery holder for my b-day last year and it's just a cute (and awfully sturdy) in person.

I like Urban Outfitters as much as the next San Francisco hipster and they have certainly gotten a great deal of my money but the home section of this place really chaps my ass. They tend to hit the trends at the height of their popularity and they hit them HARD. So by the time you see it you're over it. Zebra print rugs, coral/antler shit, disease carrying woodland creatures. Sorry I don't like birds, especially owls that vomit up pellets of rodent bones and fur.

You're not saying that the Urban Outfitters product "vomits up pellets of rodent bones and fur," are you?

Because if you are, you're making me want that product even more...

Yep, I'm totally diggin' the crewel pillows. UO is on my shortlist of stores I'm hitting when I return to the states next year. Shopping sucks hard in New Zealand. You cannot even begin to imagine. Pretty beaches and mountains, check. Shopping, just hideous.

I love the jewelry holder branchy thing. Everytime I go in there, I pick it up, look at it...picture it on my dresser, look at the price, think 'not bad' and then put it down. Then I got one for christmas - not the same one - one i like markedly less. Why didn't I buy you branchy jewelry holder? Why?

I was just in UO last night and I always have a ball looking around. All I bought was a cool Letter M for my wall made of totally recycled metal. For $8 it was hard not to buy it.

As for the clothing options, I think a lot of it looks like what I wore in high school in the 80's, so I am not interested in that AT ALL!

I've never been able to get past their politics (and I'm not one to get wrapped up in politics, it's just this little prejudice I've developed). I agree they have cute cheap stuff, though.
