It IS gorgeous. That skirt. And it's uncommon to see a square portrait like that.

OK, I owe you a painting of Casey.

I see your point. Not so much the long dress but the unbuttoned white shirt and the rolled-up sleeves, definitely. (She needs a cigarette though.)

classic example of average furniture in an AMAAAZING space. ikea would look good in this place. That chair in the corner is fugly and doesn't match the space-- but again-- white walls and checkerboard marble make up for a lot of mistakes.

I'm totally in love with the portrait of the woman. It's just perfect with the rest of the house.

What about the placement of the portrait? I am thinking I might have hung it on the landing of the stairs instead. Thoughts?

Great point, couchseattle! Beautiful bones can make average furniture look better than it is in fact. Basically, as long as it's not grossly offensive, any furniture placed in exquisite settings can make for a pleasing outcome. And, I think this is a smart way to do things at a hotel, don't you? I certainly wouldn't want to invest in phenomenal antiques for hundreds of guests each week to use and abuse...
