Two words:

Fuck. Yeah.

My friend Mrs. Meares is probably going to kick my ass for even posting this. She's greener than me for sure and I am pretty confident old-school bulbs like THESE are on her shit list, but Jesus, if they don't produce the cleanest light.

Like white walls? Hate the weird cat-piss-yellow glow that your lamps are throwing on them? Get these. Miraculous.

I just may buy up a shitload; They are endangered. You read it here first (I think).

Mmmmmmm, I do love them, too! And, a heap less mercury than these "environmentally friendly" bulbs!

I did hear that incandescent bulbs (the "regular" kind, with filaments) are going to be banned, so stock up.

I agree ...I do love these... By the way, what's with all the fowl language today??

I went from these to CFLs- that lasted about 3 days before I couldn't take the light anymore. Now I'm back to all reveal bulbs and I don't feel guilty about it...

Reveals are great but I like the Phillips Natural Light ones even better. My dad has them on the east coast and now I may ask him to stock up for me or maybe I'll go visit.

The brilliant white--i.e, cool--light from these bulbs is perfect for hot weather but in winter, I like clear bulbs for their warmth. Also, for their crisp shadows, especially shooting out from opaque paper shades.

At any rate, I have a whole closet full of incandescent bulbs, and by the time they disapper from the shelves, I'll have a lifetime supply.

oh gawd I can't do the "green bulbs" they produce the most horrid light ever. Want to look sick and green? sure! I TOTALLY want to look sick and green, or yellow or blue cuz I'll look so sexy then. not.

i love these bulbs! I'm hoarding them for when they become illegal!

the ban starts in 2014, people. Start hoarding!

I agree (and I just blogged about this myself). Do I have to bathe my home in icky green light to be green?

I thought I was really the only one! When I heard about the ban I sincerely considered finding some type of interior therapist to guide me through the inevitable switch to psycho lighting! There's a house not too far from me that uses ALL cfl's! How do I know? Because the creepy "someone is being dismembered in here" light POURS out the windows at night! It's horrific!

I may well go into significantly more credit card debt to hoard up on these babies!

Decorno.... OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, FUCK..I didn't know that!!!! Hope this helps you!!

Hey, if The Reverse Cowgirl can subtitle her blog 'pornographic coolhunting' perhaps you can add the sub-sub title 'sponsered by the word fuck'.

Kinda like sesame street. might help keep those pesky republican Architectural Digest types away.

Just an idea. Do whatever the hell you want. I'm a regular....

yeah, reveals do have the best light of anything. but i venture to say the new generation of CFLs are about equal to non-reveal regular bulbs. couple years ago CFLs sucked balls, but they're coming along and the light from them is preddy darned warm now. pleasant even. on a slightly different note-- Target is sucking at adopting CFLs-- which are good for the environment whether or not they're quite as pretty as Reveal. Best deal on CFL for 23 watt cfls (equivalent to 100w incandescent)at Target is 3 for $15 or $5 a bulb. Walmart and Fred Meyer both have four packs for $8.50. Walmart is big and evil yes, but they really were an early adopter and discounter of these earth friendly bulbs. So can we all hate on Target for just this week? I know I am. Not only do they hate mother earth but their electronics section SUCKS and they discontinued the Merona boxer briefs I used to get there and the lamps they sell really aren't discount store priced a LOT of the time.

Sorry couchseattle. It's a decor blog. You're not gonna get anyone here to hate on Target.

I like the cat-piss yellow glow ...

(don't be hatin')

I do too. I like the old-fashioned bulbs.

The place I love best for CFL bulbs is IKEA. They even come incased in domed glass like a regular lightbulb.

I love them too. I tried the environmentally friendly bulbs. They cast a sickly glow over everything. If I'm going down? I'm going down pretty - in good lighting.

I bought clear Reveal 60 watts for the white/clear murano pendants over my kitchen island, and now they're in every lamp in the house.
