it's a very lovely room, but boring to me.

It looks like a nice, calm sort of room. Love the dark varnished floors.

The more I get into it the more I think design is way simple. Tall ceilings, tall windows, wenge floors, white walls. You could have IKEA all over a room with those four things and it'd still be great looking.

I would email instead of comment, but my oppressive workplace won't let me access my gmail.

looks like the room where the parents meet your date.
has sort of a stiff waspy feel to it and I can't decide if that is good or perhaps needs a swift kick.

This reminds me of your house actually. It's like the intentional version of your house (I think your house is in transition.) And I like it.

I've got a lot of other really important things to say too.

I love this! It's so comfortable and chic. It looks moneyed without having lots of iconic designery furnishings to suggest that. Even the boring-ness of it appeals to me because it's safe and secure looking.

I do feel sad for the white chairs behind the sofa. Are the people who sit back there banished from the rest of the room? Or, just closer to the bar?

This room has great bones, so I have to agree with couchseattle.com. Even cheap furniture would probably look nice in this room.

White white not a color in sight. And my oh my... those dark floors.

Is that a portrait of Dan Quayle? Looks like it to me!

A bit restrained for my tastes, but in a very klassy way for sure.
