What I did with my summer vacation.

I was just going through the last few months of snapshots and saw this one.

Those are margaritas. The project was painting. This is pretty much how I approach all home projects. It's no wonder my house is in shambles.

As the owner of many decorating projects that look as if margaritas were involved when they weren't... I vote for another round of drinks. It can't make things worse.

You are a DIY-er after my own heart. Although I can't say the Bloody did anything for my sweet peas. They all died when they hit the earth. http://chezlavie.blogspot.com/2008/03/sweet-peas-and-bloody-mary.html

I understand the paint and the margaritas, but the diet coke? Is that to clean the brushes?

But you have FUN, right?!

I am permanently deterred from home-renos by the grimaces of pain on the faces of everyone I see doing anything more strenuous than painting.

I pretty much drink while I do every project (after 5:00), and curiously, I find that the more I drink, the more motivated I get to do things and finish them....The hubs says this is a sign of alcoholism, but the house is clean and organized. Am I alone on this?

Drunk decorating seems like a great idea at the time, and it is only after you notice that your friend has painted, in shaky strokes, what appears to be an unappealing form of seafood on your bedroom *door* (which was meant to remain white)that a thought forms to indicate that things are not going according to plan. The art does not improve with her insistence that those are in fact your initials, especially that none of your names start with a misshapen "J". And by the way, those dents on the framed paintings that were safely stored away from the paint but dangerously close to the wine route were always there, right? No, I don't know anything about drunk decorating. Why do you ask?

First off - I love you. That is all.

Second - you have no "O" blogs - you need to add one.

Red, Red wine and paint are a beautiful thing. I much adore both. The guys+ beer+ paint?? Not so much.
I left them for the day and I came back to flat Nacre paint on the trim, and they hardly even noticed the semigloss sheen on the walls.
It ALL had to be sanded and repainted. I do the painting now.

Decorno,

My home projects are done at 4:20!

this made me laugh out loud. thank you! The only DIY you can't do without wine, etc., is sewing, Never drink and sew!

Ditto to the doing projects at 4:20

I beg to differ on wine + sewing. I love to drink wine when I sew.

ha! this reminds me of a random photo from college where i had stacks of books, a near empty glass of wine, a cup of coffee (uppers and downers, and uppers and downers!) and assorted pens scattered around the table. pretty much how i survived my junior year. i'll have to find that photo...
