Turn House Beautiful into a real magazine, with a real independent voice, and show pictures of houses with too many books, for example. I'd like to see a decor magazine brave enough to do the decorating version of "Glamour Don'ts."
Oh, please... did you see that magazine before Stephen Drucker took over? It's so much better now.
Plus, I wouldn't want to waste space in a magazine showing what people are doing wrong. Those examples are all over HGTV and in our own homes. I love that HB shows what people are doing right in their homes and interviews people to find out why they made certain decorating decisions.
think square paper napkin that are at all corporate christmas parties next to the punch. you know them.
but on those napkins, there's a vintage picture of a little boy in a boy scout uniform on santa's lap saying "and I want an easy bake oven, best jazz of the 1930s, and white go-go boots for my GI Joe"
Come on guys, you know this one. A house can't have too much ... STORAGE. No really, cabinets, bookshelves, boxes, credenzas, drawerers and drawer organizers, hooks for hanging ... storage. And it should all be beautiful and you can spend as much as you want on an item as long as it provides some kind of storage.
spoons....my drawer never has enough. just for two of us, that is what is washed most. my fiance kills me with 4 cups of coffee a day and a new spoon every single time.
Sigh... today we just took 4 large bags of books to the used book store... and I recycled almost all of our old magazines. Now it actually like we don't read constantly (we both are avid readers) and I am wondering what to put on the shelves... and you all want to see books!
