Does this mean people trying to conceive should be required to screw in the public square?

Oh, youth.

Oh dear god, all the Fetus People are going to descend on this blog again...

Public square? I thought the fetus-worshipers were against socialism.

So confused.

Matt,

You had better keep commenting on this blog. I mean it.

someday you will understand the spirit in which the young lady was speaking; or maybe not - which is pretty sad really.

proud fetus-worshiper

Decorno said...

The "spirit" in which she is speaking sounds to me like a bossy class president who is reducing the very private issue of abortion into her How-do-I-become-a-Fox-news-talking-head platform. .

the public square?? good lord.

slag said...

Actually, I'm pretty sure the "spirit" of her speech is obvious. She wants people to value the fetus as much as they do the one-year-old child. Which has got to be one of the most disturbing things I've ever heard. And would be especially disturbing to any poor woman who has ever had a miscarriage.

Also the spirit of someone with very little life experience.

chiming back in to agree with you about the "bossy class president who is reducing the very private issue of abortion into her How-do-I-become-a-Fox-news-talking-head platform."

This is an issue that belongs between you, your doctor, and your God. The End.

Agreed, Decorno. A bossy class president who would bestow more shame and suffering on sexual abuse victims or couples forced to make a very painful and personal decision to terminate high risk/abnormal pregnancies. I really love these prissy white, privileged, wrapped-in-self-righteousness idiots who judge others for having to make what must be one of the most traumatic decisions of one's life. No woman should suffer further for making a decision not to bear a child. It's personal issue, an ecnomoic issue, and she can take her "spririt" and shove it up her twenty-two year old womb.

If you have a uterus you have decision making rights over ONE uterus. If you don't have one, mind your own damn business.

I almost expected her to launch into a speech about improving the health of the vending machine food and requiring participation in all pep rallies and glee club performances.

It also makes me want to stuff her head into a meat grinder.

When angels sing?! What about when doves cry?

Reminds be of a comment Bill Maher made on his show: "If men could get pregnant, they'd be giving out free abortions at 7-11."

Whenever I hear the A-word, I think of how true that statement is.

This is the stuff I live for on this blog. I'm surrounded by southern conservatives, so I love coming here to see people who have some sense.

Why would anyone be a fetus-worshiper? Isn't that false idolatry?

We should love life, which includes the life of the mother and the child AFTER it's born. People who focus on fetuses (which someone just told my husband at work was an offensive term and wasn't even a real word even after he and coworkers got out a dictionary)tend to not want to do anything that promotes a good life AFTER a baby is born. Go figure.

Ann at sevenspelledout said...

Her phraseology could have been better granted, but the spirit in which she spoke and that of which these readers missed completely, is that we *dirty word* Christians know and believe when life begins, which is at conception and we are instructed to not 'kill' life. I happen to believe in choice and that no governmental body has a right to mandate the choice I make regarding my right to give birth or not, but as a *dirty word* Christian, we will never, ever, ever, stop uttering the belief in the 'public square' that abortion is wrong because life begins at conception and goes against the *dirty word* Christian teachings.

Preach it, 'youth' or 'old'!

SHE is a public SQUARE.

I'm sure this heifer fit right in - Maggie Gallagher (National Organisation for Marriage), Carrie Prejean and Bishop Harry Jackson also appeared on the same bill.

Stop worshipping fetuses and start worshipping 11-year-old black kids that need to be adopted.

She seems to have forgotten to mention the umpteen other surgeries that might cause some squeemishness if performed in the public square. Yes! The good old fashioned public square pillory. I just know this woman would give her life to save a fetus. Let's pray that she never has to choose between the two while she preys on women who do.

Her plan would never work. Guys like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly would be in that town square day after day after day, screaming "Sinner!" and beating off.

OMFG! Seriously, in public?
So does that mean that the rape that caused the pregnancy or the incest, should be performed in public?

I mean , Come on, Really? Does this chick live in another world? If so they need a serious reality check.
As young woman who had to make the tough choice myself, I dont think anyone has the right to tell me , YOU MUST GIVE BIRTH.

I mean, I was in NO position to be a mother, financially, emotionally, or responsibly.
And sorry to Ms. Right Wing, but my family would not have the funds to support me or my child either.

This Im sure is easy for some upper class white bread sheltered chick to sit and look down on those who have had to make that very difficult decision.

Its not something I openly discuss, because its PRIVATE! - But, I am not ashamed and I am glad to have had made the right choice for me.

Its funny, these same pro-lifers preach to us about how wrong it is, and they are the same bunch who don't want to fund sex ed, and programs to get birth control to the younger generations. They are also the same people who cut government assistance, and guess who the majority is there? - Young, inner city mothers and their children!
RIDICULOUS!!

I would like to laugh, but unfortunately people like this are actually taken seriously. This isn't even a serious argument, just insane talk from somebody who believes in hearing singing angels.

Once in college somebody had put anti-choice inserts in the student newspaper. It was so disturbing and sick and filled with things like, "Abortion doesn't unrape the victim" and "I got pregnant as a product of incest rape when I was 12 and had an abortion and regret it."

They actually argued that forcing preteen rape/incest victims to carry to term (disregard mental/physical health consequences) is GOOD for these children because it "brings the rape out into public" and makes it harder for the guy to get away with it.

A lot of home blogs shy away from political topics, and I really respect you for this post!

p.s. Tulipfrills - I love your comment!

What about the injustices done to- say- chimpanzees in captivity or, worse, medical experimentations? They-unlike a human fetus- have shown us that they are capable of communicating in a way that even the most dense among us can understand (ie sign language) and yet these myopic "pro-lifers"turn a blind eye to that.Only little human fetuses matter, because they are human of course, and evidently God only cares about humans. They make me sick Oh, and I was brought up Catholic, attended 15 years of Catholic schools, have been married to the same man for 30 years, and have 5 beautiful, talented children. The "miracle of Life" is NOT just about homo sapiens.

She reminds me of a beauty pageant contestant. This would be the "public speaking" part of the competition, and next would be the talent portion, and she would juggle flaming batons or sing "My Heart Will Go On."
