Her voice seems quite unexceptional to me.
I had a dad in the neighborhood tell me how they were looking forward to their daughter growing up to be another Britney so that they could retire in comfort. When I said I was hoping for mine to be another Neko I got exactly the reaction I expected.
Still, I can hope.

Spectacle is the best music show I can remember. I wasn't much of an Elvis Costello fan until I started watching. It has featured some great music and combined some fantastic musicians.
She's one artist I will admit that I'm obsessed with. Her songs always make me feel better, I think it's because of how genuine her songs are. True artist.
I've been singing this song (in my head) all day long....it's beautiful, good one to have stuck there!
The great thing about this blog is never knowing what you will find. This was lovely, indeed. Other blog posts are only invitations for the same homing pigeons to come around telling the blogger how wonderful they are, and how truly overwhelming their work is and how it should be published in HB - not here. You just let us hang out and enjoy the atmosphere. Beautiful voice - I would sing all day as well.

she is my absolute favorite female singer, but I agree with anonymous her voice has some issues. Not unexceptional maybe - the quality and tone are really unique - but she sings flat ALOT, even in recordings. so that, and the nasal quality of her voice is not conventionally exceptional. but certainly her total package is when you consider the song writing capability and unique timbre of her voice. she's pretty special, even with the flat singing.

Yeah, I love her stuff too.
But suffered through a thorougly dud live show a few months ago.
She said nothing to the audience, it was totally flat, she relied on a sidekick chick to say something from time to time.
Blah. Won't bother to see her live again. Very disappointing.
More recently saw Eilen Jewell - fabulous, thoroughly charming, great musician and entertainer, with a good vibe happenign with the band.
Not related to either of them, by the way.
