no matter how much I wish it weren't true, I'm not that impressed with Rue.

Team Lonny all the way! Times a million.

Rue is a bullshit collection of blog posts. There's no originality there at all.

I'm so happy you're back!! Thanks for not completely packing it in. We missed you.

I think I'm torn - Lonny seems to have much more creative spaces and design I absolutely love and Rue is definitely filled with more subdued but probably also more realistic design.

I love it when I see that you have a new post in my reader!

I can not tell you how happy I was to see the email of your post I really missed you wit and I always learned something new I am off to read these online mags now

There is no way in my life......that these online magazines are taking the place of REAL magazines.

I cannot read the darn things......I can't rip out pages.....and I will continue to subscribe to real magazines till the end of my days!

And I was thrilled beyond to have an article about the house we built from scratch in House beautiful in the September issue!

Notes from geezerville; maybe!!!

So lovely to have something to read of yours!

Penelope

and thank you for mentioning it.......so, so much!

ok, but how about Anthology? http://anthologymag.com/blog3/about-2/

I haven't gotten my hands on an actual issue yet, but cautiously excited.

Please grow Decorno blog into Decorno the fabulous online magazine. Sent the kids to an ophanage (Madonna will adopt them in no time), husband swap with a couple that includes a web designer, sell the dog for greater bandwidth and gut the new kitchen and turn it into a nicely chilled server room for the computers. You're to smart to disappear into housewifery, bake sales or PTA luncheons.

Decorno said...

11:15 - you make too many assumptions. Go easy on people, especially the bake salers, and PTA-ers. Someone needs to do that stuff.

Love that Lonny is offering print copies. Let's give Rue a chance. And hoping that Anthology will be great as well since it is "print". I miss all my decorating magazines!!!! Online is just NOT the same.

Did anyone else think that Rue looked eerily similar to Lonny?

the more the merrier, baby, the more the merrier.

welcome back, elaine, even if it's only for one post!

Rue is self indulgent bs that looked so so sloppy. that article on the hair girls, wtf?

I don't hate Rue. I also don't love Lonny. Enough with the fucking black walls and antlers from both of these "magazines"

And it's nice to hear from you, Decorno.

You're BACK!!! So happy I could cry! I have given up reading decor blogs because everyone sucks compared to you. You have been missed more than you can imagine. Sorry to be so gushy...but it is true...you were my one and only daily read. I'm so happy to see a post, I'm ditching my normal anon style and posting my real name. C'mon Decorno...can I guilt you into posting again? We need you!

So nice to hear you again!!!!! Hope life is going well for you wherever/whatever you may be!

Couldn't believe I was seeing posts everywhere lauding Rue..

Team Lonny - I concur!

Rue needs some mayyjor formatting help...doesn't seem like anyone had ever been in the print biz before.

Rue needs some mayyyjor help with their format/layout...doesn't seem like anyone has any print experience. I also don't feel like I'm getting any real knowledge/insight. Agreed, just a bunch of blog posts. Whereas Lonny...man, I would love to have some of that to flip my fingers through!

it's out of control, i know. they're both slowly patching the hole that domino left in my heart.

Here's a well thought-out breakdown of the two: http://curbed.com/archives/2010/09/23/the-onlineonly-print-pub-catfight-rue-vs-lonny-1.php#more

Sara said...

Totally team Lonny. Lonny seemed more aesthetic and natural. Rue looked like a People Magazine collage on some pages. Rue had 'contact' for price on some of the pages.

I like Lonny the way I liked Domino.

Hoping this is welcome back?

Anon 10:05 - thanks for that link. Here was the conclusion of the comparison:

And the winner is...
Lonny, hands down, nearly 100 percent because it does not include this kind of editorial: "Start at the bottom of the hill. Brace yourself and begin to climb. Pass a custom bike shop, the abandoned blue Volvo, the lemon yellow house." Here's another: "Love at first sight really can exist out of your favorite Nora Ephron film." And finally, the deck (or sub-headline, if you will) of Rue's Vicente Wolf piece: "To spend a day with Vicente Wolf is to walk in the footsteps of a design god."

i could seriously care less about lonny or rue at this moment. please be back to posting. the fact that people have been checking your site since you porky pigged it a while back should tell you something. no pressure. but come on -- please?

Hello Decorno,
I was just stopping by "just in case" and there you were.
Great to read your post.
Our welcome mat is still out for
Decorno.

I second Penelope Bianchi. Can't see them well, can't rip and tear, takes too long to load.
No thank you.
Welcome back.

Are you back - are you really back? Can I curse for joy?

Rue seems like Lonny's little sister, copying her every move.

Has anyone seen Covet Garden? It's Canada's entry. Aside from the title, any thoughts?

Elaine,
Are you back blogging? Hooray!
I sent you an e-mail a couple of weeks ago about my book being released. I know you wanted me to give you a heads up about it. For the first two weeks it spent its time in two Top 100 subcategories. Would love it if you could do a Decorno post about it...considering your initial post about my kitchen and the article in the Feb 2010 House Beautiful issue is what landed me a publisher. Book's name: "Beyond the Pasta: Recipes, Language & Life with an Italian Family" by Mark Leslie. ISBN number: 9780982102367 in case you want that info, too. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Ciao e a presto~
Mark

They both suck because i can't read them in the bathtub.

I have no input on either-just glad you're back. Now bring on the posts.

PS. You decided to skip town just as i found your blog, so it's nice to have you back:-).

I always feel stupid checking just in case but look! There you are! How cool is that? We need to force ourselves to love the new electronic media because it is here to stay and we don't want to become old fuddy-duddies lamenting the good old days.

You're back. I'm so excited! I check back once in awhile to see if you came back to the planet earth........ and you did, SO Glad. Thanks for making my year, I missed your blog!

Hey, very nice site. I came across this on Google, and I am stoked that I did. I will definitely be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as much info as I can at the moment. Thanks for sharing.
