1. Hahahaha. Oh, Brad. It's so... Suntory Whisky.
2. What's with the new blog meme "confessing" what you've purchased? The old meme was writing about how you're not actually rich. That, of course, wasn't breaking news. We know you're just posting photos of Provence/Capri/Istanbul. We know you probably don't go there all the time. You're in your 20s. You're broke. We get it. Now the new thing, I guess, is: I post about a lot of material things, but I am not actually rich. Now I will post about all the things I bought last month to "keep myself honest." Just buy what you like! No need to apologize. Buy your dress/shoes/lipstick, enjoy it, move on. No apology needed.
3. In the new House Beautiful, Tom Sheerer says:
"Don't make too much trouble for yourself. Work with what you have and get on with it." AMEN.
4. And if you add the lessons of items #2 and #3, you get this:
Blogger Bryn of brynalexandra posted about her living room and there's an undercurrent of apology in it, but I think it's cute. She thinks the chairs are too tall. That's ok. No need to apologize + Work with what you have = you have a great new living room. Good job.
5. As I type this I am baking my third loaf of that famous no-knead bread. This time I have added raisins, cinnamon, and walnuts. I feel very much like a prairie lady making bread before I go to work.
What did you do this weekend?

That no.5 video....hahaha, you said it best. Beyond lame.
I think Bryn's living room is cute too. She apologizes a lot. She should just own it because apologizing just makes it seem like she isn't confident in her eye. People either like what you do or they don't. Get it girl, you know?
I hung out with your mom. We raised hell.
I was going to say "your mom" but Lisa beat me to it. So I'll tell the truth: I cried into my red wine (it's heart healthy!) all weekend because my sponsored adds on Facebook were all for catheters and Danish suicide travel packages (not something one wants to see at the top of one's news feed). Then I watched "The Thick of It" on Hulu and cheered up. But if I decide to end it all, I now know where to get a good price on a ticket to Denmark.
ha!! QUARTER RAT! You're filthy! ("Danish suicide travel packages" cracks me up.)
tom sheerer's advice is the best i've heard in a v long time.
i swear by that bread recipe too.
thank you for your sweet comment the other day. it made my day.
Agree, Bryn's got it...so over the fake bullshit. Own it, few of us live like Bunny Williams (even those of us in the same magazines...). Just be who you are and make your space beautiful.
ohhhh....these types of posts consume me! I soooo want to know who/which blog you're talking about! Someone, please share the who, what, when, where, why to this out of the loop reader? Please? Anyone?
Loved this post. And love Bryn's house. She shows how most people live--- on a budget--- and how to make your space beautiful within one's means.
Again, I agree 100%.
